Israel tests tourism return after lifting restrictions

Since June 1, Israel has lifted all restrictions implemented in the pandemic to contain the coronavirus contamination. The novelty now is that foreign tourists can already visit the country, as long as they follow some rules for travelers, imposed by the government.

The news was much celebrated, mainly by local businesses.

With the return of tourism, the country will have great support in the economic recovery, which was shaken by the stoppages that took place in the last year.

Israel was one of the first countries in the world to initiate vaccination. The doses were purchased by the government even before the approval of the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine was approved.

Currently, Israel's vaccination campaign has already applied the two doses of vaccine to more than half of the population. Along with the isolation measures, the country reduced the number of new daily cases 8,600 in mid-January 2021 to just 19 last Sunday (6).

Adolescents between 12 and 15 years old can already take the vaccine against covid-19 in Israel this Monday (7). The country is offering doses of the immunizing agent produced by Pfizer-BioNTech to more than 600,000 Israelis in this age group.

Conditions for tourism

Despite celebrating the resumption of a “normal” life, the Israelis are fully aware of the risks that still exist and understand the need for some precautions, especially related to foreign tourists.

now on, those who want to visit the country must be immunized against Covid-19 and must consider a special distancing and hygiene protocol, especially in closed spaces.

Another measure implemented for this new phase is the limitation of simultaneous tourists in Israel. Groups of travelers will be released in staggered periods.

In this first phase, for example, the government foresees the entry, until June 15, of 20 groups of 5 to 30 tourists countries like the United States, United Kingdom and Germany.

Another 20 groups were ed to stand by if one of those ed does not meet Israeli conditions.
